Device: Kobo Touch
Home Screen/Power off issue

Curious if anyone else is seen this issue:

As reference, I keep all my sideloaded books on the SD card, and the couple of Kobo kepubs in the main memory.

Back when I was on 1.9.6, I had a "Storage Error/Factory reset" message come up. Did the factory reset, with the SD card in the slot, and after the reset and upgrade to 1.9.6, the device would not under any circumstances update the home screen to show what was recently read. Home Screen was showing books from the SD card.

Removed the SD card and did another factory reset, setup, upgrade and then inserted the card. Home screen will now update to show the most recently read books until I power down the Kobo. If I power down the Kobo, the home screen returns to the list that it showed after processing content.

1.9.8 and 1.9.9 both show the same behaviour on power off. I've just tried adding new content on 1.9.9 to the SD via Calibre, and my current read disappears from the home screen, but the new book does not appear there.

I just removed the SD card, factory reset, upgraded to 1.9.9, re-inserted the SD card, read a page in a sideloaded book and powered off and the home screen reverted to what showed after I had inserted the SD card.

Read a kepub from the main memory and powering off generates the same results.

This did not happen in 1.9.5 where I could power off the device and power on again and the most recently read book was always on the home screen.

Any comments about this? I'd like the Kobo to power down after a while if I'm not using it to save battery.

This is a known issue that started with 1.9.6 and is expected to be fixed in the next release of the firmware.
