PRS-950 Where to get it ?

For some reason everyone on eBay (and there aren't that many either !) are selling FAR above MSRP (370-380$), on Amazon it's similar (and most of both don't ship outside of the US), while Google shopping webshops are cheaper so I ask the cheapest (by far), Provantage (290$), if they'll ship it to me (I think their FAQ says they ship internationally but only on demand or something like that) and they say stupid evil old Sony won't let them sell it outside the US.
So anyone know a webshop which will ship them internationally and sells at a decent price (like < 315$) and accepts PayPal and is willing to send via USPS rather then FedEx / UPS (now I wish Trotters Independent Traders Inc. had a US division) ?
Anyone who gives a usefull answer gets a free beer / coffee from me, just as long as you come here to claim it...

in principle you should try borders.com. Price is $299 and they ship internationally. However I wouldn't suggest to try. The website says that the 950 "is backordered", but it has been like that for 1½ month

Wow! you don't ask much do you? You want a seller to break an agreement they have with their supplier (to not sell outside the US) and ship via a method where they could lose any PayPal seller protection by shipping it without tracking and signature. Nice.

PayPal requires online verifiable delivery confirmation to prove the buyer got the item. They also require a signature for items over $250. Without those any seller would lose any claim of non-delivery.

Good luck with finding someone willing to do that.

Agreement ? Is Sony their mother or father ? Or the police maybe ?
I don't give a frack what stupid Sony wants and if the supplier has already purchased the e-readers they need from Sony to resell, neither should they (unless they've already signed some kind of contract to not sell internationally). When you buy something it's yours to do whatever the frack you want I say. Though this thing seems backordered everywhere so that's not the case.

USPS also has tracking, and insurance, don't know about signatures. And sellers don't really need protection when they get the money upfront, it's the buyers who really need the protection, when you send money to someone over the Internet you never really know who you're dealing with and whether they're really going to send you the merchandise.
I know the sellers need to protect themselves against fraudsters who might order something and pay for it and then claim it never arrived and ask for another so as to get two for the price of one, but I seriously doubt there's lots of those because that can't be that profitable so they could just so they could just drown the loss in the profit from the much greater number of honest customers.

There was one guy selling these readers on eBay really cheaply and shipping worldwide very cheaply (it must had been USPS), price with shipping I think 330-340$, but they sold out in a flash.

Tried searching their site, says nothing found. Anyway they'll probably say the same thing.

Then they're out of the picture. But there's lots of other webshops that have it, just need to find one with a decent price and worldwide shipping.

Sellers do need the protection... even using PayPal, if a buyer claims non-delivery and an item is sent without signed-for proof of receipt then PayPal (and Credit Card companies) will just take the payment back from the seller who is now out the item sold and the money paid for it... since a lot of sellers are small businesses, it doesn't take much to have a serious impact on any profit margins. This probably doesn't worry you but it does worry sellers which is why you have the difficulties getting grey imports to you country...

So how much business do you think these sellers lose to insure themselves against fraud by a few rare desperate losers who want to steal a single item ?
Sony is sure losing a lot of business by not selling these readers directly outside of the US.

We bought 2 off ebay.com for about $310 each the shipping was expensive but it came within 3 days, I live in the UK. The bay is your best bet tbh.

Haven't the foggiest, couldn't care less, I provided a bit of background data not intending an analysis of the entire retailing eCommunity... if you really cared then you'd do the research yourself but as you're just being usually contentious from your viewpoint I won't bother to continue except to say that fraud on the net is a massive problem (look it up yourself) and most sellers can easily balance item value against insurance...

And btw PayPal buyer protection has more holes then swiss cheese. From what I've seen of the many user experiences on the web, getting your money back from PayPal after being scammed is a hit-or-miss affair with lots of frustration and no guarantees.

Not for small stuff, no way. There's lots of stuff in webshops that's worth much less then quality shipping.

How the hell did you manage to find it so cheap ? Most seem to be 50$ more at the moment... Just checked again and there was only one close to 300$ but it looks like an obvious fraud...

About a month ago they were at $300 (cheapest) my mum and I ordered one on the same day from the same seller, my mum didn't get charged import duty but unfortunately I did it was £39. Of course my mum paid it for me after feeling sorry for me as it was my idea to order them in the first place! She also ordered us two lighted covers as well! Good deal for me, after the dissapointment of the prs 700 at Christmas.
