Hi from NY
Hiyas
I have been reading around your site for a while now. Its a great community with lots of information to be had! I figuered it was time to send a hello. For a bit of background info I live in Staten Island, NY, and play a fantastic mmporg called Vanguard in my free time. I currently own a Sony 505 and am thinking of upgrading so I can pass this reader down to my 9 yr old daughter, who reads like a fish. (She keeps stealing mine when I am not paying attention sigh) Of course this means I will probably have to get the 8 yr old son one too or total war will be imminent. |

Personally I have nothing against sony and/or its products however, PC Magazine (a well respected computer industry trade magazine) tells me the only fault to the Sony readers is that they are really expensive. That said it looks like you will be buying readers for a while now so the cost is going to be a problem and recall what I said above. Perhaps a Kobo would be more in tune with what you need since its: a) cheaper and 2) seems to specialize in simplicty. You will still be able to share books with a free software package called Calibre which will translate between the different file formats that you will need.
If you are buying a book from sony that you can see all of your family reading on their individual readers, you download the book and use calibre to convert it to epub format. I understand that Sony has no problem with epub format, neither does Kobo. |

Good to have your company, Sionix. The 505 is a fine and tough wee piece of kit. Your daughter should take to it like a fish to water. HAppy e-reading to you and the kids. Best wishes. Neil

Lol they both have taken to the reader with ease. At 8 and 9 they easily read things like the Harry Potter series. My daughter loves fantasy fiction, as I do, so many books I own she is able to read. I was thinking of getting them the Kobo and just upgrading mine in the future.
