Multiple SD cards
Those of you who are using multiple SD cards for your e-books and other digital media--how do you store and organize the cards?
I have a bunch of these little SD cards and microSD cards. I'm looking for maybe a plastic loose-leaf-type page with little pockets to stick the cards into (I used to something like this for slides). Or some other way to keep them neatly all in one place and neatly labeled and accessible. I've seen little cases that have slots for cards and flash drives, but I really don't want to keep buying little cases. Any ideas? Thanks. |

I have many (as in about 40) of the sd cards. I keep my audio books on them, then just slip into my mp3 player to change my audio book out.
I found a little storage container in sewing supplies which was the perfect width for the sd cards. I line them up into it like a file cabinet. When I overflowed the one container, got a second, filled it up, and they are side by side in one of those small "really useful boxes" (??) that have begun showing up in America. It has a nice lid with side latches, and it is just low enough so that the sd cards will not spill out. Besure to start a labeling system that will expand with you. I started with the alphabet (A, B, C, ...) and soon got to Z. Now the new ones are 1, 2, 3, ... Also, when I insert the sd card into my computer, I change the name on the card to the numbering scheme, i.e., Audio A, Audio B, etc. I also have a directory which has which audio books are on which cards. Hope some of this helps. Last edited by AJ Starr; 07-13-2011 at 10:32 AM. |

Check out a hobby / craft store - there are lots of containers for various craft supplies (embroidery floss, beads, model parts, etc) that are about the right size for a stack or row of memory modules of whatever kind you use.
Hardware stores have little bins to hold various types of fastener that can also work, though they tend to be larger. |

Brilliant!
Your mention of sewing supplies made me realize that I actually have the perfect storage box already--a plastic case intended to organize embroidery thread cards. The embroidery cards are a little larger than SD cards. Here's one at Amazon that looks like what I have. Each compartment can hold numerous SD cards, and the double compartment can hold flash drives. Probably any crafts stores that sell embroidery supplies have these, or something similar. Thank you so much! ETA: Just in case anyone else is looking, I found a 7-compartment version at Joann.com, on sale for only $2.09, and ordered a couple of them. I think I like the smaller version even better. Joann.com also has the 17-compartment one for $2.39. Shipping is $5.95. Last edited by Catlady; 07-13-2011 at 12:41 PM. Reason: added information |

Well - be careful here. You dont want to use ordinary plastic box's as these can hold a electrical charge. Circuit boards and other electronic components are shipped in those smoky electrostatic-resistant bags just for this reason. And memory - is more sensitive to a static charge than other devices.
They do sell memory cases with anti-static plastic sleeves for memory cards: http://www.amazon.com/Memory-Card-Ca...0823504&sr=8-2 |

![]() I more often use Micro SD however - because they fit in everything with the right adapter. I therefore ordered one of these: ![]() |

Just over $3 in America and something similiar here in Australia costs $39.95.
And the big name companies are angry people are buying overseas. It's buy overseas or don't buy when faced with that price as far as O'm concerned. |

Everything I've seen indicates that when it comes to technology, Australia gets shafted in the absolute worst way (at least as far as the Western world is concerned).

I feel for you.
The messes in Austrailia and New Zealand seem to be entirely government inflicted, with most major political parties having their hands in the cookie jar. You can't get rid of the mess because there is no longer much chance of a politician being removed for graft - either by the legal process or the voters. |
