I am going to keep an informal tally

Of the number of problems reported indexed by the electronic reader reported in these forums starting today. This should be interesting and provide some insight into the quality of each reader. At the moment the tally is Kobo 1, Kobo Touch 2, Sony 4 and Kindle 0. I realize that I have not sub-divided the Sony's so this is not that fair and I am only on day 1 and I am assuming that mobile read members are representative of the electronic book reading community as a whole.

This will not provide any useful information unless you know the size of the user base for each device. If 10 people have problems with a Kindle, and only 1 with a Kobo, that tells you nothing about the reliability of each device unless you know the relative numbers of Kindle and Kobo users.

I agree also how do you account for user errors and astroturfing trolls

You'd end up with what could charitably be termed a non-representative result.........
