Seems like a nice case from Tuff-Luv
I was looking for a case for my PRS-350 and found this on Amazon.com. Seems like a decent deal if anyone is interested. I think it might take a few weeks to get to the USA as it comes from the UK. I ordered one today.

Good for you! I was doing the same yesterday, but snagged a silicone case from eBay instead.

I have this case for my 350. A great case, seems great quality for the price (quite soft leather), is still light and everything is easily accessible. The open flap folds back too so its very easy to hold and read (or indeed prop it upright as a make shift stand if you wish - I don't). I doubt you will regret your purchase!

Case use feasible as a stand?
I was wondering if this case for the PRS-350 would really be used as a stand because the size of the 350 is quite small. It just seems kind of silly to use in that manner. Does anyone use a case for the PRS-350 in stand mode? Just curious. Mary

I would agree. I don't even read large paper/hardback books on a stand, I hold them. I just propped up my 350 and its perfectly readable that way - just looks daft to me. Its so light to hold. Unless I guess, if the owner of the reader were disabled. I suppose it may be useful then.

Yes. Frequently. Almost always, when I'm reading while sitting at a table. One of the reasons I got this Tuff-Luv case was for the ability to adjust the reading angle. Setting the correct reading angle angle allows my eyes to focus properly through bifocal lenses. If I was 20 years younger, it probably wouldn't matter.

I have one for my prs-505 - I use the stand to read whilst eating breakfast, otherwise I just hold it.
The stand folds away nicely and the cover has a nice feel to it whilst holding; for me it works very well. |

EDIT: Please read my follow-up post further below. I was far too critical of this cover initially, but after using it for a while I've come to realise it really is an excellent accessory. The niggles I highlighted are still valid, but on balance, the pros well outweigh the cons. I just hope that the cover will stretch slightly over time. This is more for aesthetics - I'm more glad it's not loose and flimsy like the Sony lighted cover, and at least I'm assured my reader will not fall or slide out of this cover!

I have to tell you, had I been forced to pay top dollar for the cover I'd feel extremely cheated. As I haven't, I don't, but I am regardless returning the cover for free thanks to their very generous returns policy (30 days, postage paid). I cannot fault Tuff-Luv's customer service, but the cover I received wasn't exactly first class. First off, the smell is horrible. It sticks to your fingers, and you can taste it. No, I haven't been licking the cover, but somehow, you can taste the smell if your fingers go anywhere near your mouth after you have held it. Secondly, my cover was way too tight a fit for the PRS-350. I had to jam it in, and as a result the front part of the case where the reader is when you've flipped it over is pushed up under the strain and casts a great big shadow over the reader. Thirdly, the clip-on LED light cannot clip onto the cover, as the fit is already to tight for it to slide in. Fourthly, feel the stitching under the front bezel (where the reader will slide (or jam) in). It's ROUGH! I am unhappy about the quality. I only paid £7.50, but the original price was something like 28 quid! That's only about a tenner off an official lighted cover. I'm returning mine, and I've ordered a proper Sony cover. I'm sacrificing protection (the Tuff-Luv cover is 'Tuff') for aesthetics and usability. I'll let everyone know what I think of the Sony cover when it arrives! I really wish I could recommened Tuff-Luv, but I can't. Last edited by Arrghus; 07-04-2011 at 08:53 AM. |

My 505 case is a soft leather (internally fortified) flip top model, similar to this one. The make is iEasy, which I think might have become Tuf-Luv after I bought it some years ago.
It serves as a stand, sure ... but also (one-handed) as a sun-shade and there's a wee snap-button loop on back cover that looks as though it's meant to hitch onto a belt or something but is, in fact, ideal for ease of holding. You simply slip your first two fingers through it and the thumb of the same hand is free for page-turning. Something else that gives me a wee kick is the nose-snubbing value to those who swear by print. My reader looks, feels and even smells like one of those rare and posh volumes the local library won't let you take home. Cost me about thirty bucks, I think. Probably cheaper now. Very, very highly recommended. I'm sure it will outlast even my reader itself (which is a superb piece of Sony kit). The open-book style case is clumsy and impractical. It's merely a means of protection when your reader isn't being used, and I suspect designed to make a reader look like a 'real' book. What darned nonsense is that! Are we not proud to be book-lovers and e-book readers, unashamedly displaying our preferred means of content presentation? Luck and best wishes. Neil |

I take back most of the negative comments I made regarding this cover.
Today I received the official lighted cover through the post, and I could tell from the moment I clipped my reader to the plastic pegs that I would be returning it later today. It is garbage. You cannot read lying down with the official cover as the magnets aren't strong enough to hold the reader back, so it flies towards you, only hanging by two plastic pegs. It is difficult to hold with one hand, especially as the cover does not fold all the way back and stay put. It flops about. Holding it like a book doesn't help either, as the weight of the device makes the whole thing snag down on the right side. The smell is an atrocious chemical odor (worse than the Tuff-Luv cover). The weight, as reviews I should have took proper note of have said, is too much. The weight of just the cover with battery inserted is more than the device itself and the weight of the Tuff-Luv cover with the device inserted. I'm also miffed that the seller on Amazon I bought this product from, says that the company doesn't offer refunds on "accessories". We'll see about that... I've been using the Tuff-Luv cover featured in the image at the top of this thread for hours on end today, and I'm glad I finally got over my initial misgivings. It is light, easy to hold as the front flips over and thanks to a button clasp, stays flipped over. Because you can slide your fingers in the gap it creates, it is easy to read with one hand lying down in bed. The stand will no doubt prove useful for plane and train journeys, and overall, the reader is much more protected in this cover. I would feel comfortable just throwing the reader in my bag and not worrying. With the Sony cover, I would only feel comfortable leaving it around the house. The magnets do not work well at all. The Sony cover is only suitable as a dust cover, and permanent fixed light. The light itself is great, if a little cheap feeling. Given the lack of options available to Sony Pocket users, I'd say on reflection the Tuff-Luv Multi-view cover is the best of a limited bunch. I echo the comments above that open-book style cases are clumsy, and if one wishes to read with one hand, are totally unsuitable. Now all I need is to find a clip-on light that can clip onto the top of the reader and cover. I don't think the standard clip-ons will work because of the extra thickness the back of the Tuff-Luv cover creates... |

I bought an M-Edge cover that smelled vile, too. That awful smell of plastic novelty items, ick. I left the cover open and empty out in the garage for a couple of weeks and the smell completely dissipated. You might try that with your Tuff-Luv cover, see if it helps to just air it out.

Got the cover today...quite happy
Well gang, I finally got this cover today for my PRS-350. I'm quite please with it and can actually see myself using the "stand" feature. It doesn't smell at all. Appears to be real leather rather than imitation. It was well worth the money and wait. I'm confident it will protect my 350 very well. If you are considering and it is still in stock, I'd say "Just Do It"! Mary from WI
