How do I "clean up" my Opus to factory settings?

Hello all,
not planning to sell it (yet! ), but I simply decided that I don't want to deal with Calibre anymore. Mind you, it's a wonderful program and it does its job very well, but at least on OS X and on my aging iMac, it's way too slow. I realize that probably a big part of the problem is the poor quality Qt port for Mac, but the point is that I'm loathing every time I synchronize it, and I find myself only doing that when I have to connect the reader anyway, ie. when the battery is dead.
So, I though I'd just go with a microSD and put my files on there manually, quick and easy.

I'd like to clean up the unit, effectively restoring it to factory settings. I imagine I could format its internal memory as if it were a USB thumbdrive, and then reapply the latest firmware. However, is it safe to actually format it like that?

I suppose that I can backup the bunch of ADE-equipped files it came from directly from the Adobe Digital Edition application, but I haven't tried yet. I'll do it as soon as I post this.

Thanks!

Yes, it is possible to format the internal memory like an usb drive and install the latest firmware afterwards.

I don't know what happens to your ADE registration. It may be that you will lose it during the formatting and that you have to register the Opus anew. But I'm not sure.

I shall try as soon as I'm done reading my current book. It makes sense for the ADE registration to be lost, as it would provide a way to "clean it up" in case the device is sold. Still, DRM... blah. So many complications. :\
