Font size will not stay changed

I've done a search on these forums first to try and find the answer that I'm looking for, without success, so I'm starting a new thread.

I have the Sony PRS-300 (which I love), and I use Calibre for transferring files. But I am having a problem for the first time with a set of books I've put on the reader - when I open the file in Calibre I change the font size so that (I thought) it should show properly on the reader, but when I open the book ON the reader, the font size hasn't changed at all, and it's much too large even in "s". I've had the reader from new for quite a time now, and this is the first time I've had such a problem. Is there an easy solution?? I'm a bit more than a newbie with the computer ans such, but definately not an advanced user, so keep it in simple English, please!

Many thanks in advance

Forgot to say: I put everything in ePub format on the reader.

I'm having difficulty understanding this statement "when I open the file in Calibre I change the font size"

What did you actually do? It reads as if you opened the epub in the Calibre Viewer, then used the zoom button. If so, then this won't work as it doesn't change the epub.

There are 2 ways you can physically change the font-size of the epub:-
  1. By doing a Calibre epub to epub conversion, paying attention to the 'Base font size' and 'Font size key' options on the Convert - Look&Feel page.
  2. By using the Calibre Tweak-epub option to manually change font-size in the epub's css file.
Option 1 is easier if you're not comfortable with the innards of an epub, but may make other changes you didn't anticipate if you're not careful. Always keep a copy of the pre-convert epub just in case.

Option 2 is safer if you're comfortable with manually tweaking your epubs. I will go into more detail if you like but, based on your post, I'm not sure whether you'd be happy using this feature.

I think that is probably what I did, I didn't realise that it was only a zoom tool on the left side of the Calibre viewer.

Anyway, I've used Option 1, and it seems to have done the trick. Many many thanks!
