Using UK Kindle 3 in USA

Hi, can anyone advise on using a UK 3G kindle in USA.
Does the SIM need changing?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The SIM isn't designed to be changed by the user.
And you don't have to.
You just have to be careful about your account.
If you stick to your account from UK for usage in US (or any other combination of countries), most services still will be free. For example, buying and downloading an ebook from the (in your case UK) Amazon bookstore on your Kindle. But some services will generate additional roaming coasts, directly billed from Amazon with the respective service. This applies for daily newspapers for example, if I remember correctly.
The first time you do something like that on your Kindle, you automatically receive a short document from Amazon on your Kindle, named "confirming international costs" or something like that.
This document perfectly explains, which amounts you have to expect for what kind of services.
And then you basically have two options:
a.) You can change your account from UK to US. That's just a matter of 20 seconds in a web browser in the section "manage my Kindle".
I'd even recommend it for you: In the US bookstore, typically you'll save about 10% per book compared to UK. And in your case (UK/US), language won't even be a problem.
I've switched from US to Germany some weeks ago. That's obviously a bit more complicated. Suddenly I can buy plenty of German books, but the English ones are usually a bit more expensive. And some English ones simply are missing from the German bookstore because of regional restrictions.
b.) You can stick to your UK account, like tons of tourists do for their vacations.
I've read somewhere, Amazon might contact you ("did you move recently?"). But as far as I know, they won't force a US account onto you, it's your own (probably even cheaper) decision.

So: Don't worry. Kindle is really international.

Of course, as the Kindle notices that you've gone to the USA it will fiddle with the spelling and use of some words.
