I'm running the Kindle app on my pocket eDGe (sorry don't know how to find the ver # but I just downloaded it from Amazon - newbie). I can open the books fine on the tablet side but I really want to read them on the eink side. I go to the library and the default books are there but I see files with strange names and extensions that have no bearing to the book titles. When I try to look at them they would not open. I've searched but can't seem to find this issue elsewhere. Am I destined to only read the books on the tablet side? Thanks for any advice (and don't worry, I won't be insulted if you think that I am just stupid...).

I believe (not a kindle person, so I'm pulling from memory here) that you would have to convert the kindle book to ePub. Most of us do book conversions with calibre.

in order to do that you will also have to strip off the DRM... There are threads in other parts of mobileread about how to do that.

As pyxiwulf says copy your kindle books to your computer, install Calibre and use it to convert them to epub format then transfer them back to your PE. Then you can open them on the e-ink screen if they don't have DRM.

Hi mot! I like your name -- Word!
![]() You can always keep your Kindle books for the LCD side and get/buy/borrow epubs to read on the e-ink side. Of course, if you have a large library of Kindle books waiting to be read that doesn't help much. If you decide to convert your books in Calibre it is easy to upload them onto your device using the USB cable. Calibre recognizes the PE and will show you on your computer what books you have on your PE. Or you can transfer them wirelessly over a LAN. Good luck! Feel free to ask if you have questions. ![]() |
