PRS-650 PRS-650 cable

I have got 3 different USB cables at home, they all fit for PRS-650. One of them is the original one

I think I have been using all of them for the last 6 months but now my reader has the problem with battery drainage and I need to make sure I am using the right one. Could you tell me what the cable for prs-650 looks like ?
Is is the one about 1m long with e166307 awm 20376 ... SHIUNG on it.
Is there Sony logo on it ?

its just a standard Usb cable- any cable with the right sized plug on the end will work.
I bought a cheap spare from ebay & it works just as well as the sony original.

Just out of curiosity, does your battery drain problem happen when the reader is connected to a computer? I learned the hard way that if the computer is turned off or in sleep mode, the reader's battery will quickly discharge. Charging from the wall with a USB adapter keeps me from having this problem.

Some motherboards have an option to keep power on the USB ports when in Sleep more.

Are you closing the reader down for periods ? Overnight or even a few days ?

It's better to keep it on standby - and being ignorant about best practice, I posted questions about about this -

and learnt a lot about managing these pesky batteries from Delphin & Rittlinger
- use the search facility with this title & it'll answer all your questions, I'm sure. It's v

ery helpful indeed.

Certainly clarified things for me, and my 650's holding charge much longer.

I have one of those iGo chargers with a USB end. I then purchased an adapter on EBAY ($.65) to convert the mini usb end to a micro usb (for the reader). This seems to work fine except that if I inadvertently leave there reader plugged in with the power off...the reader will discharge.

It is hard to imagine that there is a "smart" circuit somewhere that says: "If there is something plugged in, but with no positive power connected, then discharge". The same craziness I guess holds when you plug in to your computer that happens to be shutdown.

ArmadilloPilot, same happens to me on different USB cables. I just try to remember to unplug it now before my laptop goes to sleep.
