E-Ink Landscape Mode for eDGe

Hey I know from perusing enTourage System's help forums, that the eDGe doesn't have a standard landscape mode for the e-Ink screen. I think this was insane not to have included from the get-go, as it would have made the edge the only really hands free e-ink e-reader that could have been setup like a laptop screen. All others have to be either HELD at an angle, or you have to settle with placing them flat on a surface (unless you buy some wobbly, separate aftermarket stand) and craning your head over the device to read. Also, as some reviewers have complained about the eDGe's weight, who really cares about the weight when you don't have to worry about holding the device while using it???

Anyway, my question is whether or not anyone knows of a way to install software for a landscape mode for the e-Ink display? Maybe the Adobe Reader Mobile software that runs the e-Ink display has some type of update for Android that includes this landscape functionality, but I suspect that I'm not that lucky. Is there perhaps some third-party software out there that could somehow do this? Does anyone know, one way or the other? Thanks.

The e-ink screen does have a landscape function as of Ermine. You cannot annotate, but you can read.

To turn the page to landscape on an Ermine-equipped eDGe, go to View on the Menu at the bottom of the e-ink screen and tap Rotate. (Just in case anyone has trouble finding it! )

Landscape mode is nice but it is also an annoyance. When you touch to get the second half of a page and then turn to the next page the second half of the next page is displayed and not the first half like it should be. If anyone knows a workaround for this please post it.

Yes, trying to read anything on eInk in landscape mode is pointless. using the physical down button, you get the top of each page, losing the gist of the text.

Even using the stylus to use the down arrow in the (then) upper-right hand corner produces the next piece of the text, but doing it again produces that same area on the next page. Using the on-screen up arrow in the upper-left hand corner show un-seen text, but often not what follows the end of the previous page, and often displays half of one line at the top, or half of one line at the bottom.

With no way to smoothly scroll up and down, it's very difficult to maintain any sort of continuity, and unless reading the material is a matter of life or death (or a job or grade) it seems unlikely any but the most masochistic would do it.

For this reason, I just assumed landscape mode was intended to give a better view of diagrams or graphics, and NOT to read content. You really have to use the eInk panel in portrait mode. That's why I re-publish anything I really want to read on it in a smaller page size with larger text.

The fact I don't have to use landscape mode on the EE is the main reason I got it and also why I have a DX.

Like ivanjt, I own an EE which is much easier for reading PDFs. However, I have found that ezPDF reader is the best way to read PDFs on the PE. Either Portrait or Landscape, it doesn't matter. The Adjust Text to Column feature makes everything legible. Heck, ezPDF will even read the PDF to you if the PICO language pack is installed. I know there are other good PDF readers like Repligo but, I think ezPDF to be the best and easiest to use.

ezPDF Reader http://www.forum-bec.com/f244/ezpdf-...android-37856/ FileSonic, select Slow Download.

Android PICO Installer Language Pack (Not an App. Works with other Apps like ezPDF reader).

*** Download using your device ***

Download via PC: http://www.1mobile.com/pico-tts-lang...oid-62221.html Select Samsung S8000 (doesn't matter), Download, Transfer, Install.
