Update Policy
Hello folks,
calibre is a great tool thanks so far everyone who is involved. But please would you please change your update policy. Manual Updates are too frequent! If you prever to have frequent rollouts please implement an auto-updater! ![]() |

Well I understand most of your arguments... but anyway its not a modern mind to have outdated software on my computer
![]() How about notifications for every major release? Its great that you work on the software so often but for the users it is sometimes quite anoying ![]() |

I like the way it is now. I don't do all the updates and would not want auto-update.
The program tells me when there is an update available and I decide myself whether to do it or not. Usually there is an update/week or something like that and i choose to update maybe every month. Good enough for me. |

I like the way it is, first thing I do is read the update notes to decide if I want to update. One click to get past the notice, so what.

8.7 has been spontaneous(debug log just shows 'startup' times) crashing on me, A M$ C++ error, A PY27.dll error. (The one thing in common to the crashes: I was ending a F2 edit of a custom column value in the main GUI)
I just was EASILY able to roll back to 8.6 (and turn off 'Notification') NO Auto Update please. |

I always wait until I know that an update is stable before upgrading. Eg I'm going to stick with 0.8.6 for a while yet; too many reports of problems with 0.8.7 for me!

Adding my voice to the no auto-update crowd; like others, I like to ensure an update is stable or if, depending on the change log, I even want to install a particular one. Many times I wait for updates with changes that enhance my Calibre usage in some way, or fix an issue that's affecting me.
