Smile Hello from another newbie

I got a smart phone 8 months ago to replace my dead phone and my palm. I was amazed at what it was capable of doing as I only got it to be a PDA and phone. 2 months ago I got a Galaxy tab for better note taking and easier reading of my appointment book (4" screen is just too small) and discovered Zinio and Kobo that came preloaded as part of Readers hub.

I was amazed at what can be done now. I get my English magazine subscriptions the day they are released in England for less than half price (no postage!) I have access to free classics it is a new world. The tablet is going to pay for itself quite quickly.

So here I am taking my first steps into ereading on my androids. I have downloaded some free books so far and I am currently reading 'Alice in Wonderland' to my 4yo. He loves the fact that he gets his nightly story on Mum's tablet. It wouldn't be as much fun getting the same book off the shelf!

As he gets older and starts reading for himself I will probably have to get him an ereader of his own. The older 2 have ipads at their father's house that they use for reading amongst other things. Maybe I will give him the 7"galaxy tab and get one of the honeycomb ones for me...

Heya, welcome and congrats!

I too have a Galaxy Tab and have just started to mess around with it. Quite a sweet device, though a tad on the heavy side. Still, excellent performance IMO so far.

For reading ebooks on Tab, I strongly suggest the fantastic fbreader application. Free! It is incredibly fast to load up and is far superior to the ebook reader that came pre-installed on my Tab [no idea what the program name is though...possibly aldiko?]

cheers and enjoy

Mine came loaded with 2: E-book and Readers Hub. I use the readers hub one at the moment as I have downloaded kobo books and it is 'powered by Kobo'. I haven't looked into any other readers yet. If I do, is it easy to get the books I have into it or do I need to have a reader for each bookshop I use?

I have no idea how this works yet!
