HEIRS OF MARS: PRELUDES - a short story collection spanning three worlds

Hello everyone,

I'd like to tell you about the short story collection, Heirs of Mars: Preludes.

These three short stories are set before the events of the novel Heirs of Mars, and describe life on Venus, Earth, and Mars in the years and days before the novel begins. The collection also includes the complete first chapter of the novel, which begins immediately after the conclusion of the third story.

To Reign in Heaven (19 years before the novel) - India is a synthetic woman in love, passing a blissful year studying Venus and reveling in a shared dreamspace with her silksteel lover. But when her Mother chooses to sacrifice her children, India's memories of love will be her only weapon to save her brothers and sisters.

To Walk the Earth (18 years before the novel) - Victoria is ready to move into the wilderness, far away from the manufactured monotony of modern life. But her boyfriend decides to go to Mars instead, leaving her to enjoy one last motorcycle ride all alone.

To Serve in Hell (1 day before the novel) - Neil is just a man struggling to get through another day on Mars: lousy food, cramped quarters, and a child who doesn't understand why he can't have a puppy. But when a cloner arrives, Neil has a chance to take control of something for once in his life, and to avenge the death of his parents.

Reading my books will only pay dividends if you like action, strangeness, humor, history, philosophy, romance, mystery, and Bay-tastic explosions.

I tried to download Heirs of Mars: preludes and instead of downloading it opened a page with scrambled symbols. I even tried using two different browsers and the same thing happened.

Your browser is probably set to automatically open files, rather than download files. Please try right-clicking and selecting "save link as"

Actually all that happens then is that my computer tries to download the browser page. I did get the pdf to download but I had wanted to get it in the Kindle mobi format. I don't know where the problem is. I have been using Firefox but even tried going back to IE and seeing if it would work then. Nada.

I had a similar issue with my computer. I usually click a link and it prompts me to download, but this site just tried to open the file in the browser. Do as suggested and right click the link and "Save Link As" to get it that way. Could be a mime-type issue on the server. No biggie though.

Okay, here's an upgrade that should work for all browsers and systems - there is now a ZIP file download for each title that contains all three file formats. Please give that a try

Thanks. That option (the zip file) worked. I still can't figure why I couldn't get the individual file to download properly. I must have gremlins running round somewhere or something.

I had the same problem. I though it had something to do with me being on a Mac. The zip file worked, thanks! Now, off to go read (instead of doing my work, eek)!
