Can I buy, and use, a Kobo in UK ? Or a Nook for that matter ? |

The KT's integrated bookseller, KoboBooks, sells to many different countries, putting aside publisher-enforced geographic restrictions. I know they sell to the UK, and if you can buy from KoboBooks using your computer, you shouldn't have any problems making use of the integrated shop function on the KT. Be aware that you'll have to use workarounds such as proxies and providing information that obfuscates your UK location if you get the Nook Simple Touch. B&N, the Nook's integrated bookseller, will only sell ebooks to residents of the USA. Or at least, those whom they believe to be in the USA. ![]() Of course, if you don't intend to use the integrated Shop feature on either reader, both the KT and the NST will still work for you. |

Much appreciated - I'll wait for the bugs to become apparent/fixed, but I know you can use proxy addresses...

I'd appreciate folks letting us know when they actually see the Kobo Touch in the wild ... ie in store at WH Smith.

I'm keeping an eye out for an official Australian launch. Both Borders Australia and Angus & Robertson had a clearance on the previous WiFi models a couple of weeks back ($99 with free shipping) and now list zero stock. Maybe a refresh is in the wings?
It seems silly that I can import the new KT from Borders US for less than the WiFi is selling on eBay down here. |

Agree, I bought a kobo touch from borders.com for $176 NZD including shipping. Yet the wifi is still on sale here at Whitcoulls for $199. And according to the website that's a "hot price". No sign of the touch arriving here any time soon, especially given the recent sale of Whitcoulls and borders.

Dunno about in the wild, but it's on Smiths website, with wifi, and extra card memory, £79-99 free delivery.
No mention of e-ink or not, unless I missed it, nor of the touch version, which is what you'ld expect if it's coming to them - clear out the old........... Must go down to the local shop, see if there's any there. Never realised they were on sale - and pretty cheap, aren't they ? But are they any good he asked - compared to the Sony for example (ignore the wifi.) |

any more news about this? I've searched on Whsmith etc in the UK.
I rang Borders in the US and they said I must use a US credit card, but it sounds like some here successfully ordered internationally. I wonder if it'll be released in the UK soon, tempted to try and order it internationally, but would prefer to buy it in the UK Last edited by danskmacabre; 06-23-2011 at 05:53 PM. |
