Control Tags when Sending to Device

Hey Folks!

When I send books to my Sony Reader, I want to be able to control which tags are sent with the books, and which are not. I use several tags for library management, that I do not want to become collections on my reader.

I want to do this on a global scale. I may have several books tagged "TEMP" for example, but I do not want a "TEMP" collection on the reader.

This feature may already exist, I just have not been able to search for posts here with any success. I have already reviewed any/all configuration screens I could find.

It would be nice to have a configuration screen with a selection for "send these tags only to reader" or "do not send these tags to reader", or both.

I am using a Sony PRS-950, if this helps.

You can control whether or not *any* tags are sent, but you cannot pick and choose which tags are sent.

You might want to read How does calibre manage collections on my SONY reader? in calibre's FAQ.

What many people do is create another tags-like custom column that is used to control collections. Replace 'tags' in the device customization with the lookup name of the new custom column (#something). That way, you separate collection management from tag management. The random tags that show up for whatever reason aren't used.
