case/jacket for Pocketbook IQ?

I don't know about you, but I have this uncomfortable feeling bordering on anxiety for fear of dropping the IQ when using it.

I think it is due the weight and the slippery feel of the device.

Does anyone know of a case/jacket that will fit the IQ?

Thanks

still going strong and it didnt even stop playing the mickey mouse he was watching.

im going to look for something as well

I'm in the same boat.
The metal case is nice and sturdy but it also makes the IQ heavy and slippery.
I've been looking for solutions and have found three viable ones:
- Velocity micro has a US$50 leather case for their Cruz reader which is a near twin of the IQ. Only problem is the lower support will cover the buttons on the IQ's front.
- The IQ is close enough in size to the Kindle 2 that some K2 cases that use corner elastic will work. I have one lying around that uses two leather and two elastic restraints. The IQ is too thick for that but a couple strips of industrial-grade velcro can substitute. And as a bonus, they offer a good grip surface on the back.
- Oberon design's gorgeous leather cases come with either corner restraints or velcro. The velcro versions should work fine.
Other options (leather journals, DVD carriers, etc) should work. Just remember the IQ is a quarter inch wider than a DVD case and equally thick and high.

BTW, has anybody notice the rear panel snaps off?

I was thinking it might but was hesitant to try. Anything under the cover worth reporting on?

Well, you can substitute the internal SD card fairly easily, it seems. That way, once the 2.2 update is out, you could get two big cards and have the IQ loaded with much more content.

I haven't popped it myself, just curious: any word if the battery might be user-replaceable. Given the need for daily recharging (unlike the eink readers) that is bound to be an issue down the road.

well, you can get to it (by removing the back) so you can replace it. it's up to the battery manufacturers to make one we can put in our IQ...

Do you happen to have an idea which Kindle Oberon cover (with Velcro) would work? They ARE gorgeous covers.
Thanks.

Thanks.
Theoretically, any of the Kindle 2 cases; the numbers I've seen say they're 6" by 8.5" and the IQ is 5.56" by 7.56".
The review said there is at least a quarter inch margin all around the K2 so the IQ should be a fit. Tight, but fit.
http://www.geardiary.com/2009/06/16/...2-case-review/

However, make sure you ask about the actual width of the case cause I notice they no longer talk of a velcro restraint system for K2, just the corner restraint system. So they may have made changes. If you can still get a velcro-based case you should *theoretically* be fine. (I haven't tried it myself. Yet. I'm having trouble picking a design... )

The cheapie pleather case I'm using (for now) has a loop for a pen in the spine and that extra width is what allowed the IQ to fit perfecty in the case. So if you look at other third-party K2 cases look for one with a pen loop in the spine and odds are it'll be a fit.

Good luck!

Ah, thanks, fjtorres. I feel like you're one of my guardian angels hopping from one question to the next

I'll shoot them that question and post their reply. I hope one of their covers will work, though. I have this SERIOUS hankering for that red dragon . . . although the roses are nice and that wave . . .

So many decisions.

I like the black ones. Can't make up my mind either.

Edit: Went back for a closer look. Velcro still an option. 6 by 8.5 still listed.

Ah, excellent. I'm going to place my order now I already shot them an email, but they're on break until Jan. 10. That's okay; I can always return the jacket if it doesn't work, but here's hoping that it will.

Think an IQ would fit in something like this?

Probably not.
That is for k3, which is narrower than k2, which is already a quarter inch narrower than the IQ.
If you find one for k2 with some clearance on the width, say around the spine, it *should* work. Buying local would take some of the uncertainty away...
