German Dictionary on Calibre Reader?
I have a number of German language books in my Calibre library, and I would like to switch the English language dictionary (works well on my English books) to a German—English one.
Is this possible, and if so, how do I go about it. Sorry if this is not the right Forum for my question. Thanks |

My question is not about DRM; only whether there is an alternative German to English dictionary available for Calibre, and if there is, what it is and how do I install it in Calibre.
Thanks |

Kovid's answer was the answer you're looking for - it's not possible to change the dictionary language in the ebook-viewer.
His signature (attached to all messages he posts on this forum) includes the notice requesting that people not contact him about DRM removal. It's a generic signature line, and doesn't have anything specifically to do with your question. G |

The consensus seems to be—no you can't. The reason I assumed you could ("Yes I can") was that Calibre uses dict.org for its reader*, and dict.org has all kinds of other dictionaries you can choose on their site (http://www.dict.org/), e.g. the German-English Freedict Dictionary. It would surely be a simple matter to make the switch if one knew how (maybe through style sheets??).
*From the Calibre FAQ "You can lookup the meaning of words in the current book by right clicking on a word. calibre uses the publicly available dictionary server at dict.org to lookup words. The definition is displayed in a small box at the bottom of the screen." |
