Building Calibre on Honeycomb

I am looking for an Android version of Calibre. I have my calibre library on an external Hard Disk and I would like to access it from my Android tablet when I am on the go.

Does it make sense? Does it seem feasible?

Calibre will not build or run on Android. The best you can do is have calibre running on a computer and use the content server to share your library. Then access your library using your tablet's web browser.

Well their is an app it can access your calibre library database so you can copy your whole library to your device and browse it using that but I am not sure if it will work with an external drive

Be aware that this is a 3rd party app that has no affiliation with calibre proper.

You could also use Dropbox (disclaimer: if you sign up using the link in my signature, we both get extra storage space free). I have dropbox on my pc and my tablet and copy my calibre library to it. Then sync the tablet to it, and there it is! You could put it on your external drive, too, and keep it, your pc, and your tablet all synced.

Hi,
Warning - Dumb question!
If Android is an evolved version of Linux and Calibre runs on Linux, then is it technically feasible to adapt Calibre to run on a device that has Android as its OS?
The reason I ask is that I think it would be ideal to have an Android tablet that has Calibre installed so I can download ebooks from the internet, optimise them for viewing using Calibre and read them - all on one device.
