When do you think will be a new kindle?

I think is very difficult to know it, so I want to ask you, when do you think amazon release a new kindle?

I think not before christmas...

They've never released a new Kindle around Christmas before, so why expect them to now? Amazon never lets anyone know ahead of the official announcement. Any speculation is just that.

My guess is there will be an Amazon Android Tablet released late summer/early fall and then a Kindle 4 next spring.

There was about 450 days between Kindle 1 and Kindle 2, and a bit over 500 days between Kindle 2 and Kindle 3.

So one might think that a Kindle 4 will arrive in very late 2011 (not going to happen) or a few months into 2012.

My guess is we'll see a Kindle 4 announcement on Thursday, 16 February, 2012.

Although I suspect it really depends on screen technology availability. My hope is that the next Kindle will have a mirasol (or equivalent) display.

I really don't think we will have a new kindle before a better technology than pearl e-ink is widely available.

Right now both kindle 3 and kindle DX have pearl e-ink screens. Just adding a touchscreen won't be enough for a new generation.

I hope you guys are right, because brand new innovative (or just vastly improved) screen technology is the only thing that would tempt me to upgrade at this point. The Pearl screen was nice, but after having extended access to a K3, it just wasn't impressive enough for me to ditch my K2 (in fact, I liked the form-factor of the K3 less). So the K4 is going to need a screen that stands up and says; "Wow!" for me to even think about compromising on the cheaper build and less satisfying ergonomics. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Amazon is "improving" their way out of one less repeat customer.
