Any read PDF PC mags on PRS650R?

I'm looking for an e-Reader that works well with PC magazines which are available in PDF format (e.g. PC Magazine, PC Pro). I'm also thinking of purchasing the Sony PRS650R. Does anyone have any experience of reading this sort of publication on the PRS650R? Is it a good experience?

It's doable, but not ideal. For magazine, the extra screen space of the 950 might be a better idea.

But, truly, if that's what you read most of the time, an iPad would be a better option.

I don't think you would be satisfied with reading pdf magazines, especially with 650. Agree with the previous one - pick the largest tablet.

I think the iPad or any other media tablet is the worst option to use it as an eReader. You can't use it outside, you can't even use it on a bright day. Instead you get a reflective LCD with an eye hurting backlight.

But I also agree that the PRS650 display is too small for a magazine. Take a look at the link in my signature to get an idea how it might look like. I read science articles on it and use the column mode for it. However, with images stretched across two or three columns it doesn't work that great.

I don't know if there's a huge difference with the 950, the 950 is not wider, just taller, so landscape mode might be better but maybe still not large enough.

So either you are ok with the column mode, or you search for a much larger eInk reader.

And no, reading on a LCD, regardless how good they are (I own a tablet PC with industries best LCD (Boe Hydis AFFS+ panel) and still bought an eReader to read comfortably)

If you don't have a pressing need to use the device outdoors, I agree that an iPad or one of the larger 10 inch Android Tablets is your best option.

An iPad or other Large Tablet with a high dots-per-inch resolution LCD screen, can work quite nicely for reading magazines if you set the screen brightness to an appropriate level for your reading area.

I personally think that the reading fatigue issue with LCDs is overstated.

Any screen based reader (eInk included) takes some getting used to, and many of the problems that have been reported are caused by folks trying to read from older, poor quality, low resolution devices, or setting the screen brightness too bright in a darkened room (or too dim in a brightly lit outdoor area).

When reading from a backlit screen, if you turn it down to an appropriate level, so that it's only a little brighter than the level of light reflected from a white piece of paper in the same viewing environment, then you should have much less of a problem with viewing fatigue.
