drm code 79 issues
Just received my edge but having issues registering with adobe. Is this impossible, or could I be doing something wrong? Any suggestions? Also when my pe arrives can I use the same email and password when registering or will I need to use different ones? I suspect I will need different ones. Thanks roger

Can't help with the Adobe thing, but you should be able to register multiple devices with just one Entourage account. I did.

Your eDGe registration email and password must match your enTourage website Account. Use the enTourage website to confirm/update your enTourage account. When I got my PE I had to change my enTourage password to match the updated requirements (my password was too short).
The Adobe email address ideally will match your enTourage email address, but the password can be different (in fact, both can be different). Use www.adobe.com to verify your Adobe email and password. During Registration, if your Adobe email or password differs from your enTourage account, then checkmark the option to enter a different Adobe ID. As always, both parts of the registration require communication to a server (enTourage's and Adobe's), so remember that network connectivity issues can cause problems. |

Hmm, still getting a message that "The document has been fulfilled by another user." I probably just need to backtrack in the process a bit and will probably find I messed up a step somewhere. Thanks for the insight.

One problem with DRM is it limits you to how many times you can download or use something. That particular ebook have have exceeded the number of downloads to "different" devices (a single device itself can be "different" if it was registered multiple times). Issues like this can sometimes be resolved with Adobe customer support (it's actually not an enTourage issue).

Still an Issue
I made sure to get the email and password right for Adobe, but things still do not go through. I guess one can live without registering with Adobe, but what is lost? If one does not complete the registration with Adobe, what restrictions are placed upon the person? Just downloaded the Ermine update 2.2...wow....what a difference maker. Another note: had to send the PE back. A very troublling dead red pix right in the middle of the LCD screen....shame. Finally, I take it that one cannot darken or make lighter the reader side of the Edge....right? This forum and its members have been great. Roger

Here's an alternate way to register with Adobe. It requires the microUSB connection to a PD, and Adobe Digital Editions:
1- Download and install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) To do that, follow the following instructions. In Step 8, make sure you use the same adobe credentials under which your books are authorized. https://www.entourageedge.com/suppor...barticleid=109 2- Connect your freshly factory reset/golden updated edge to your PC using the USB cable 3- When the edge is recognized, ADE will ask you if you want to authorize your edge with Adobe. Say yes Note that you can easily transfer books you've downloaded in Adobe Digital Editions to your eDGe by following these instructions. Regarding the brightness/contrast of the Reader side, there is no adjustment possible. You can use a book light for better reading, though. |

I just got my PE today and got the Adobe DRM 79 error message. Entourage tech support said I needed to have an account with Adobe. So I went and sent one up, and it still didn't work. But I couldn't get past Step 6 of the set-up--with the Adobe error message I was dead in the water. There was no way to get around it. I couldn't even download 2.2. So I called tech support again, they had me reset, but now, I can't get past screen 5,"Checking for updates." First time I tried to set-up/register, it sailed through it, said no updates needed. Now it just hangs there. Tech support had me reset again, but still no luck. Tech support said this is a problem they've never encountered before..... Any suggestions for a total newbie?

If you've tried all of these things and they didn't work, call Adobe (800-833-6687) or use their chat feature (you'll get a pop-up when the hyperlinked page loads). You can only use your Adobe ID on four devices (six registrations per device), so if you're using the ID on five or six devices (easy to do these days with smart phones, work PC/Mac, home PC/Mac, etc.), you'll might have to deactivate one or more of them. You can also ask Adobe to reset your Adobe ID, which means you'll have to re-register all your devices (easy), but it might solve your problem because it'll flush the server. This won't change your user name or password.
