Internal Audio after Ermine install

Installed Ermine a week ago on my EE. All seemed to be OK. Then suddenly the internal audio shut down. No longer working. The audio from the external jack is still working fine. I actually
use EJ most of the time. However, I miss the email notifications etc. when not using the external jack.
And of course need the internal audio when an external amplifier not available. Don't know if others have had this problem. Could it be an internal harware (speaker) wiring problem, a sound card like problem or an installed app problem ?
Hope someone can help.

I have the same problem on my PE. I posted it along with my general experiences on the "Ermine Experiences" thread. I have no idea how to fix it. As of now, I still only get audio via headphones . . . no speaker sounds at all.

I did what phone supported advised with no success. downdgraded to dingo ....still no internal audio.
All I accopmlished was wasted time and loss of previous configurations. I'm in the process of
reinstalling Ermine once again. Looks like unhappy another call to HSN and EE. Don't waste your
time downgrading if you have this proplem. EE support was only guessing.

Seeing this possible "hardware damage", i would wait for next release (if happens)...

After dingo phone support (after downgrading a second time to dingo )......the higher up tech support assumed a hardware damage issue.
This is what I have assumed all along. I returned my EE today. Sure hope it comes back in a timely manner and in better condition.
Seems to me a new replacement would have been a more proper since it was only purchased in mid December.

Interesting . . . I don't understand how the Erimine upgrade would damage the speakers though. . . Plus, I find, when I turn it off, the speakers make a quick faint 'pop' - type turning-off noise, just like they always have. Please keep us posted regarding your results.

I've got my speakers back!

The problem resolved itself after I "called" my PE (I've assigned a DID to my Edge, so it can recieve calls), and pressed the 'speaker' button on the in-call menu. Now I've got sound as before. I'm thinking there was some sort of internal/digital switch sending all my sound through a non-existent channel that I couldn't turn off through normal means, but that this somehow did the trick. So . . . If your speaker dies after installing ermine, try using the speaker function in the Android phone. . . it _might_ help.

Could you please explain how to do this procedure. Thanks.

@ obsessed 2: I'm not sure which procedure you mean. If you're looking for where/how to set up your EE/PE to recieve calls, you can find that information in the 'Google Voice' thread in the apps section, or the 'SipDroid' thread in the general discussion section.

Once your phone is set up, you can send/recieve calls over wi-fi. When I got my speakers back, all I did was use my cell phone to dial the number I had assigned to my PE (using the methods described elsewhere, see above). When it rang, I answered it. I was just playing around with the different buttons, pressed the 'speaker' button that is on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen when the 'phone' is connected, and my speaker function magically returned. That's it. I don't know if you can access that function without setting up your edge to send/recieve calls. You'd have to experiment with that yourself.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. Fedex tells me my PE will be here today so I want to be prepared for anything that comes my way when I upgrade to Ermine. I'll check those two post out. Thanks again.

I wonder if somehow Ermine might have put the PE into Silent Mode. According to the User Guide the Rotate Screen button switches screen from Portrait to Landscape and back. You can also hold this button down for 3 seconds to turn off the device or to select Silent mode.

It's certainly plausible although it didn't occur for me. One thing I was surprised at was my Bluetooth audio volume was normal even though my speaker volume (via the hardware volume controls) was muted.

I did not know the button did all that! Good job reading the User Manual, Obsessed! What are we going to do when your unit arrives and you have the real thing to play with? Who's going to dig out these helpful tidbits then??

Enjoy! I assume you're still waiting for the package to arrive?

While it's a good thought, I can tell you that this was not the case for me (unless the menu buttons setting silent mode, etc., were not working), as I messed with all of that stuff trying to get my speakers back.
