If I started the update process and it started downloading updates how can I stop the update as I can't find a cancel button.Do I have to turn the device off to stop it ?

Yes, turning it off should abort it while it's downloading. However, if you turn it off after the download is finished and it has rebooted the first time (i.e., started the update), then you may end up with a lovely piece of plastic with assorted electronic bits (i.e., a "brick").

You'd better ask Tech Support. I'm not sure, and noone has ever asked about or reported aborting an update-in-progress...
