I know I probably missed reading something here on the forum, but the thread about 3G got me to thinking about the PE on Verizon. I remember hearing that the PE would be sold by Verizon, but then after a while...nothing. Does anyone know if that was just a rumor, or was it just my imagination?

It's not your imagination. Indeed, the PE does have a SIM card slot.

However, it was never officially announced by enTourage or Verizon.. It seems that arrangements broke down for one reason or another.

Yes, 3G model is the designed model for Verizon. But for some reasons (since like 3G model not ready), they just release Wifi version first.
And unfortunately, the production of Pocket eDGe has stopped several months ago (maybe it start produce again after I got this information).

When will we get the firmware update of EE/PE.... I've waited for a long time and running out of my patience.

I'm not expecting it before mid-April at the earliest given the difficulties and repeated delays they've experienced.
