EE video formats - MP4 WMV MOV
The EE support for video playback: 3GP, MP4, Adobe Flash Lite® (H.264), AVI (DivX encoded), AVI (Xvid encoded), MOV, WMV.
However have some video files in MP4 and WMV that wont play proper, this are the codec information for the files: MP4 file: video codec H264 - MPEG -4 AVC (part10 (avc 1), 480x272, 29 fps, audio codec MPEG AAC (amp4a), stereo, 48000 Hz WMV file: video codec MSS2, 800x600, 15 fps, audio codec WMAS, mono, 22050 Hz, 32 bps What codecs are supported on EE for MP4 and WMV? What are the codecs supported for all vidfeo and audio files on the EE? Running Dingo Last edited by leo315; 09-13-2010 at 02:30 AM. |

i've got a bunch of Pinky & the Brain MPEG-4 MOVIE files on my eDGe and they work great. basically, i made converted them for my iPhone and just transfered them to my eDGe. on both devices they work.

My experimentation with MPEG-4 files indicated that the eDGe didn't support higher bit rates (this is pre-Dingo). If the MPEG-4 was 480P, it usually was fine, but 720P and 1080P files would not play.
So, Franky's suggestion is well worth trying. |

Nice, as for the mp4 file, it works on the EE, when reducing to 25 fps.
I used handbrake to transcode the video file. MP4 file: video codec H264 - MPEG -4 AVC (part10 (avc 1), 480x272, before: 29 fps now: 25 fps, audio codec MPEG AAC (amp4a), stereo, 48000 Hz The reason why I am asking for codec specification is that I like avoid the transcoding and save the time. |

As for the WMV files, I transcoded them with Sothink Video Converter tp MP4.
From: WMV file: video codec MSS2, 800x600, 15 fps, audio codec WMAS, mono, 22050 Hz, 32 bps To: MP4 file: video codec MPEG-4 Video (Mp4v), 15 fps, 480x320, audio codec MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a), stereo, 44100 Hz Or from 5 MB as WMV to 20 MB in MP4. Much larger files, however it plays on the EE. So far for video on the EE: - MOV plays natively - WMV transcoding to MP4 - some MP4 need transcoding |

I just converted some dvd-disks to Get those movies working on my iphone. That worked and I just put all of the Pinky movies on my eDGe. It's great...

Android is pretty picky concerning pixel dimensions and bit rate. I have a number of videos and some music files that are in supported formats per the edge/Android docs, and they play fine on my linux systems, but the edge (Android, really) objects to them. In all fairness, embedded platforms usually have similar limitations. My Blackberry also "supports" a number of media formats, but only works with files containing specifically tuned content.

My edge doesn't play a .mov movie. If I understand the first post in this thread well, it should, or do I need some app?

But you are talking about a movie, so maybe it has something to do with the resolution. Converting to ipod-resolution might help. Edit: In post #2 Franky talks about the conversion. So, good luck! Last edited by sjarrel; 02-20-2011 at 08:25 AM. |

Thanks Sjarrel.
I have it running as a .mov now on my edge, but without any sound (and I am sure sound is on). Maybe I should try the conversion now. |
