The new Sony reader needs a higher version of Android, 2.2 or higher.

I noticed that this apk downloads the ebooks in epub format. I tried to import them into my library to be used on the eink side... it transfered them over but does not open them yet. I will have a go at it later.... might just be a temporary anomaly that a reboot may fix... I hope.

** update **

It does work fine now... so it is another way to get and search for ebooks. Pretty cool that you now have a choice to open them on whatever side you prefer. I like that choice!

Only issue (not really a problem either... just how it is) is that epubs seem to lack the PDF reflow (it isnt epub reflow, after all!!lol) So I will later try to use Calbri to convert them or something like that to see if they look better that way.

The ePub format should auto-reflow (when zooming in\out, for example) unless each page is a scanned image. BTW, I imported the books I've downloaded from aldiko reader for reading on my eInk screen and have had no problems zooming in and out. The re-flow seems to work great for the books I have.

I got one of the new Sony eReaders with touch screen for each of my three oldest kids (I have eight). They are quite nice since the user can also write on it in a similar fasion using their finger or included pen. Anyways, I was anxious to get the Android Sony reader app so I can have access to the same books my kids have.
