How do I download the Adobe Digital Edition
I am a newbie when it comes to computers and I know other stuff has been written about installing Adobe Digital to the Pocket Edge, but nothing seems to work for me. I would like to download books from my public library and have already downloaded the overdrive and is showing as a app. Everything I read I get more confused because I guess you should know I am a grandma with little experience outside of email for my laptop. So please help me in a way I can understand. I am so frustrated at this point I am considering returning my Edge(I have one more week before I make that decision) but I would like to keep it, but think I am in over my head. I have sucessfully transferred books from the google store app to the reader, but am interested in getting more diverse selection.
Thank You |

Welcome to the forums, Dallacruiser. Fret no more - we're here to help
![]() Adobe Digital Editions is software you install on your PC to read ebooks in PDF & EPUB format. Your Pocket eDGe already has the equivalent software installed on the Reader side - there's nothing you need to install ![]() If I understood the article about borrowing public library books, you run the Overdrive application on your PC/Mac to select and check out a book. When you download it, you select "Save File". At this point, I would plug a USB memory stick into your PC and then save the EPUB/PDF file there. Once it's downloaded, you can unplug the USB memory key and plug it into your eDGe. Then, on your eDGe, launch the "Storage" application and tap "USB0". There you'll see the book you downloaded. Tap on it to open it up on the Reader. If you're using an Overdrive application on your eDGe, then it will be storing the downloaded ebook somewhere. If this is the case, I'll have to find out where it stores it so I can tell you how to open it on the Reader side. I don't have access to a public library that uses the Overdrive system, so I'm going on my understanding of the previously mentioned article and reading ebooks on the eDGe in general. So, please ask further questions if necessary and describe in detail what you tried, including which app you used on which device (i.e. PC/Mac/eDGe) ![]() |

I believe it is pre installed as it is for the Pocket Edge's big brother. To use just download the book from edge's store or another ebook (EPUB,PDF) format store. Run the Reader application (blue Book on your Tablet) and select your book. There are hlep tutorials on the edge on how to use the Reader side of the Edge. The Big ? White in a Red Circle (help) offers User guides and video tutorials. The eBook viewer is known as the Reader and the Colour LCD side is referred to as Android (tablet) in the titles.

Boris thank you but I am trying to download directly to the Edge device.
Jerry, I have tried to download something from nook and nook says they have downloaded a sample but there is nothing in the reader or anywhere else I can find. I've read all the turtorials and user guides etc. But am at a loss. Like I said before I can download from the Google store but nothing else. I just gave up with the Public Library. Any help would be appreciated. Please!!!! |

You might be best off contacting Tech Support during East coast business hours (see http://www.entourageedge.com/support). They're very helpful.

If you contact them by phone, I imagine they'll be able to walk you through the process over the phone. That may be easier than by email or forum posts

There is no Adobe Digital Editions for Android. Adobe is working on one, last I heard, but it's not out yet. The only reason you'd need Digital Editions on your eDGe is for the DRM, which comes preinstalled. To check out books from the public library, you'll need to download them to your PC or Mac first. The public library does not allow direct downloads to mobile devices.

use File Explorer or storage and look for the file in the downloads folder/directory.
Sometimes download links do not actually work for a variety of compatiblity reasons. I must admit I went to Adobe site and downloaded Adobe digital editions to my Windows based PC and download books and transfer them to the Edge via USB key or direct link. Borisb posted http://www.entourageedge.com/forums/...highlight=nook a link to a nook app for the Edge. Try swirching the browser mode settings (in the Browser , press menu, select more , settings and scroll down to Browsr Mode. Then try the link again. |

Anyone notice this announcement from OverDrive yesterday?
http://overdriveblogs.com/library/20...upport-ebooks/ I'm still trying to figure out how to directly download epubs from the public library to my Pocket eDGe. All I see through my public library link (even in desktop mode) is audiobooks. Anyone tried this yet? Thanks! |

On the main screen of the Overdrive app, press Menu, then "App Settings". Did you specify the Adobe ID (your email and adobe password) there?

Also, when I checked a couple of local libraries, the larger one indicated they had the eBook format on the "Browse Libraries" screen, while the two smaller ones only showed as having audio books.

Thanks Boris. My "litte" local library system, Fairfax County Virginia, with 491,804 registered customers, seems to want me to listen to audiobooks with Overdrive. But thanks, I'm trying to register my OverDrive Media Console and getting e_auth_failed. I love it. We're not the only ones who have to struggle with Adobe registration issue!

I finally was able to download EPUBs from the local library directly to my eDGe. Took some fiddling though. At first, I could only get audiobooks. Works perfectly now though. Fantastic.
