Picasa Tool Pro

I was able to get the apk from someone with an Android phone (pretty sure it does not exist out there in the wild, after the hours of searching I did) and it solves some, but not all, of my Picasa problems.

There are some tasks that either I haven't figured out how to do yet, or that the app can't do. Here's my list so far. If anyone can help, please feel free to chime in. I did also email the developers to ask about these features and I'll post whatever response I get:

1. How do I upload to a different album other than "Drop Box"? Can
I select an album each time or is there always just one single default
album for uploading?

2. How do I move photos from one album to another? If they can only
be uploaded to Drop Box, then I would like to be able to organize them
when I view the album. I know there are some options when I click on
a photo, but "move to a different folder" doesn't seem to be one of
them.

3. How can I add a caption to a photo? I know I can add comments,
but I would like to caption the photos.

4. The website says the app can manage albums, but I don't see any way
to perform these managing tasks like reorder photos, make a private
folder public (or a public folder private). How do I edit album
properties?

I tried the app. Its pretty cool for viewing online albums. However, I could manage to do just that. View the albums. Not much else as you mention.

Developer's responses to my questions:

> 1. yes, go to album list and click option icon. select 'upload photos here"

picasaweb.google.com to do that. it's much more easier and quicker.

uploading several photos, the app ask you to add captions one by one.
it's a little bit annoying. you can edit it on a pc visiting
picasaweb.google.com

yes, very nice suggestions. Thank you!

As for making it available, I can do that. (It's not bad form or anything, right? It's a free app.) Is Entourage OK if I post a link? If not, I'll email to anyone who gives me their address.

I find the app works well for batch uploading. The only thing I had to play with was with respect to the default upload folder.

You have the option to specify the default upload folder, but not in a "browse for a folder" kind of way - in a "drop down selection" kind of way. The option that looked like it would take me to my SD card (where the photos taken on my digital camera were) didn't in fact take me there. So, I ended up copying my pics from my SD card to the location on the edge where the built-in camera app would store pictures. After I did that, I was able to find the pictures to upload.

I also didn't find a way to upload to a different folder than Drop Box. Maybe that's because I was batch uploading, and maybe one at a time you'd have the option. But then like I said, the problem is that this app won't move a photo from the Drop Box to somewhere you actually want it to go. (I have some cumulative albums like pictures of all the meals my hubby makes with local food - so I do keep adding to it. I don't always want a new album for each new batch of pictures.)

So it's less useful than I'd hoped, but it does do a few things well.

I just typed in /extsdcard where /sdcard was and that takes me to where I store my photos, no copying needed.

Hmm..I don't recall seeing an option to type a directory - only to choose from a list. I'll check again. Thanks.

In settings, there are two lines with default search folder. The bottom opens to a box with /sdcard typed ion by default.
