Bye bye Courier

http://gizmodo.com/5527442/microsoft...=Google+Reader

Good I didn't wait for this and bought the edge...

Yup. A very attractive concept, but it's enTourage that managed to actually deliver. This should give enTourage a longer window in which to dominate the dual screen market...

Yup, I pretty much tweeted the exact same thing when I read that. I found out about the edge in a comment on a Courier blog post. Shame, but yet I feel slightly vindicated.

Those of you who already have an Edge should reply to those comments at the Gizmodo site with info about it. They seem to want something like this, but they don't know it exists.

Sadly, at Gizmodo, if it's not "iSomething" it doesn't exist or at best is irrelevant...

BTW, the Notion Ink Adam is getting quite delayed too, which is a shame. I am looking forward to the Pixel Qi DIY kit so that I can retrofit a netbook or two .

Sniff. Sniff. Yup, Courier was the best computer simulation and video of an imagined computer product I've ever seen. (Should I have announced I was in sarcasm mode?)

I don't understand the Gizmondo/Engadget crowds. Nobody can present anything to these people without comments being downranked into oblivion:
* If it isn't iFillInTheBlank from Apple it sucks.
* If it isn't announced running some kind of Microsoft vaporware it sucks.
* If the case has a bezel, it sucks.

Doesn't matter if something exists now, is in distribution, is upgradable, and has potential for improvement. If it's not exactly what they expect from their favorite large volume device purveyor then fuggetaboutit. Vaporware promises seem to carry the most mileage with these folks.

^ They never liked the N810 either, but that's the best tech investment I ever made. (Here's hoping the edge gives it a run for its money!) Hubby and I bought an iPod Touch and N810 respectively (around the same time) to compare the devices. Sure the iPod is sleek and fun, but the N810 has saved our butts a few times because it's actually useful.

Yes, each time I've checked on it, the date gets further and further away. I was considering waiting for the Adam, but the delays changed my mind. And given the delays, I suspect he's not going to be able to deliver his original price points.

yep...Apple fanboys over there! While I do like Apple products, I find them to be overpriced and over-hyped.

The Pixel Qi kit is now available, albeit at a fairly steep price. I think Entourage ought to consider it for their next-gen device: "half the weight and double the features" - the Entourage Blade (Edge, Blade, geddit?) . I bet that they might get it to market before Notion Ink.

I am tempted to try to retrofit it on the LCD side of the EE but I like the warranty too much to try that though . I am looking around for a cheap netbook with a smashed display so that I can play with it though I realize that trying to read with something like this will just be silly.

Yeah, we had a discussion about the Kno a while back (maybe 4-6 weeks ago). As I recall, the general consensus opinion was that it was likely too big (and expensive) to be a viable option for most students.
