Issues with my Pocket Edge

I received my Pocket Edge just last Friday. I love the size, but there are a few issues that I've encountered already:

1. Whenever I open a journal and then start writing, everything is fine until I try to save. When I do that, all of my notes I just wrote disappear. Is that happening to anyone else? Annotating a pdf doesn't have the same problem, as it saves just fine.
2. On the touch screen side, using a notes application that will allow for handwriting, the handwriting is really bad... its laggy and doesn't pick up all of the points I touched on the screen. its actually worse than the eink side, when I expected it to be much, much more responsive. Has anyone tried this?

I've already updated to the new Dingo 1.11 and never tried it with an older firmware, so I don't know if its just my unit or if anyone else is experiencing the same. Thanks in advance.

For #1, I'm pretty sure you've accidentally selected the white pen colour. At the bottom of the eInk side (in Journal), show the menu (if not already visible). The pen colour is to the left of the "Help" icon. Tap it to show the colour choices and tap "Black". This won't make your existing text visible but will ensure newly written text stays visible when you save. You should then check the defaults by using the "Edit" - "Settings" menu (again, in the journal, at the bottom) then "Pencil Color Preferences".

For #2, are you using MaplePaint? It's super responsive on mine. Perhaps shutdown your PE and reboot and see if that helps.

Hey Boris, thanks!!!

Both problems have been solved. I'm using Note Everything, by the way, and I guess it just needed the reboot, and everything's okay, now. Also, you're right on the pencil color preference; it was on white. That was why it wouldn't save anything. It was still showing what i was writing until i wanted to save it.

Excellent.

The journal *was* saving what you wrote, it just was in white ink. For faster performance, the journal immediately draws what you write in a coarse black colour. When you save, or change pages, or tap the Refresh icon, it redraws what you've written in higher quality in the actual colour. So what you wrote initially looked black, but when it gets redrawn it "disappears" since the actual colour is white.

You can disable this optimization by unchecking "Quick Draw" in the Settings.
