Application Menu Cleanup
I would like to see the option to remove or hide some of the icons on the applications menu.
Currently there are apps on the list that I never need to use again or at all such as FrozenBubble, Minesweeper, eDGe Register, Help, Help Videos, etc. After I've registered I no longer need the register app, After I've read and watched the tutorials, Help is unneeded on the system menu. After I've installed my two player chess app... ![]() Could it be possible to have the option to just uninstall these from the OS? Currently each of those on the list are considered part of the system and therefore not editable. I know that the data files would have to still exist on the internal SD card for the factory restore option, but for long term use it would be very nice to reduce the clutter. |

you can try to delete corresponding APK from /system/apps/ folder.

I wouldn't want to remove icons from that menu entirely, but I'd love to be able to hide some of them.

Yeah, this would be a nice feature.

I agree completely. Even better would be to delete some programs (like Frozen Bubble). Little worried about running out of app space in the future...

Agreed -- Hiding app icons is a good idea.

I don't think it would be a good idea to remove application icons from the application menu. You need somewhere where you can access all applications, and if it is not the application menu, where should it be? If you want somewhere where you can access your most used applications, then the desktop fills that role quite well. If there are applications that you do not use and do not want, remove the application.

The solution would be to have folders. Perhaps this is part of Android 2.2---- I don't know. We would have to wait for Android to do this, I think. It is a much touted feature of the new iPhone 4 OS, so I would be hopeful that Android will also do that.
