Finding Videos (Movies)

There may already be a discussion for this, but I can't find it. Does anyone know the best place/method to obtain movies for my Edge. I've been using it for work & school and am off to a conference. I would like to get a movie or two for the plane flight, but I'm not sure how or where. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently created an account with www.moviehd.com, which carries hundreds, maybe thousands, of movies. Creating the account is free, but if you want to purchase a movie, you must "add money" to your account, which you can do with a credit card. The minimum you can add is US$19.99. Best part is they carry most movies in multiple formats. The problem is that I haven't figured out which MP4 format will actually work on the eDGe. Plan to experiment tonight. Happy to report back afterward. But for more on this now, read this thread, this thread, and this thread.

There is also a new hulu plus service http://www.hulu.com/plus which is compatible with the ipad. Hopefully, it will work with the EE as well. Have anyone tried this yet?

UPDATE: So I bought and tested a couple of movies from www.moviehd.com last night and here's the scoop: The iPod versions (resolution roughly 480x320) work best on the eDGe. They're beautiful, sound good, too. The other formats either don't work or don't work well because the resolution is too high or the codec isn't supported. The iPod versions also work well on a PC. Haven't yet tested it on my BlackBerry but will.

I also checked in with tech support for their input, and they said, "The enTourage eDGe currently support [sic] MP4 videos with resolution up to 480x320. DivX will play on the eDGe but fewer of the encoding options are supported as compared to h.264."

NP. :-) I also wanted to test the iPod version on my HDTV and regular TV, but ran out of time. My guess is that they'll look crappy on the much bigger screens at that resolution, but a test is a test. May try it this weekend. I also just noticed that the www.moviehd.com site seems to be down. Hope that doesn't last long.

Alas, it seems www.moviehd.com is a scam. Although I got my money's worth (two full-length feature movies and a TV episode), many people it seems have not. If you haven't already done so, DO NOT sign up for their service. If you have, with my deepest apologies, I would report the transaction as fraud.

Again, sincere apologies.

Okay, another site we can scrath off the list is Amazon. I tried everything to get their downloadable videos to work. Stop. Do not pass "Go." Do not collect $200. But I sent them a very nice email imporing them to add Android devices to their list of approved hand-held devices. Would be nice to be able to download them via the Kindle app.

Amazon Video-On-Demand requires Flash. It should work with Android 2.2

You need flash to watch Amazon videos online with your browser, but not to view the portable or offline versions of the files that are available for PCs, Macs, and certain mobile devices. I buy these all the time and watch them on my PC, which has a nice, large monitor. You can also download them to your TV.

Go to ipod-lounge.com to download movies to your PC then transfer to pocket edge. No upfront fees. Just pay as you go. I haven't tried to download directly to pocket edge yet; but in the meantime, this procedure works GREAT!!
