Kindle Convert!
I chose my first ereader with great care and a lot of help from Mobileread.
All my reasons for choosing the original Nook 3G/Wifi are still valid. That having been said.... The Kindle 3G may be my very favorite gadget ever. Pearl e-ink is crisp and clear. It is insanely fast and the internet browser is amazing! It is small and light and feels great in my hands. I didn't know that the 3G was everywhere, the Nook 3G only allowed me to go to the B&N store. I used it to add appointments to my Google calendar at the PT yesterday, awesome!! (Yes, I know I can root the Nook and I did play with it that way for awhile but the battery drained too quickly for me) I installed the jailbreak and put custom screensavers on which always makes me happy. (thanks so much Kindle devs!) ![]() My one con so far is that the Kindle still looses when it comes to organizing my books. Collections are nice but I am kind of an order freak and I want them alphabetical. ![]() |

Welcome to the world of Kindle. I'm delighted that I chose to start using a Kindle having previously been reading paper books only.

Those three readers (Nook, Kindle and Samsung Galaxy) are excellent readers and each one excells at different things. The trick now is to get the msot out of all your readers by using each reader for what they do best.
1) The Nook - is best when you know you will be attempting to do multiple things at the same time, such as reading a book and eating lunch (which is something that I do all of the time). 2) The Kindle - is best for when you don't know which book you want to read and instead you want to be able to shift between the books very rapidly (its has a search function. 3) Your Samsung Galaxy is best when you are reading on the go with a few things in tow. Since its a smart phone it can read electronic books for you as well, mine does. I read on my smart phone on my commute to and from the office, since I haev a few things in tow its much easier for me to use my smart phone, even though it has a small screen. So chose the right reader for the right situation. |

Good to have your company, Lizzie. Have you tried downloading the excellent and free Calibre Library software (http://www.calibre-ebook.com) and organising your library in there? Luck and best wishes. Neil

If you are using Sort by Collections on the Kindle then they are sorting by most recently accessed. Using Sort by Title will sort them alphabetically but include collections and books in the same list. One trick people use is to put a character/prefix (such as "_") at the start of collection names to force them to sort to the top.
If you're downloading Calibre you might want to consider installing the plugin in my signature to help manage your collections. Since you've already installed a hack, I think installing calibre should easy enough if you aren't already using it. |

So when I sort by title I get the following on the first page of my home screen: __Classics __Fantasy __Mystery & Thriller __Science Fiction _Dark Tower _Dune _Sword of Truth etc Doing it this way makes it extremely easy to find a particular title I want, or I can type a letter and hit enter to jump directly to titles starting with that letter. |
