Please clarify for me: Pearl as opposed to...Vizplex?
Help me, Knowledgable people,

I went astray in my understanding at some point:

I had thought I'd seen mention that the previous generation of eink display before Pearl was called VizPlex.

I had thought that the Sony PRS-350 reader used a Pearl display.

The "About" info on my PRS-350 says it's a VizPlex display in more than one place and never mentions Pearl.

So I either misunderstood what Vizplex is, or I was misinformed about what display the 350 uses, or the info on the 350 is wrong.

Which? Or is there another option I'm not considering?

According to an older post here Pearl is actually Vizplex v220.

The Pearl screen is "Vizplex version 2", so yes, it is Vizplex.

Wonder why "Pearl" doesn't appear in the 350's credits anywhere. It seemed like that was a big enough feature that they'd want to highlight it, as different from the previous screen.

It may well be that it's just a marketing term, rather than a trademark, which "Vizplex" is. That's probably why "Vizplex" appears in the legal stuff on the device.
