With all those exclusions, wouldn't it have been easier for them to just list what it IS good for?

It can be used for non-Agency e-books. I used it this morning for a $15 e-book (which they had discounted to $13); my final price was $7.50.

I think it's great that Borders has started to allow coupons on e-books at all; I wish BN would do so also.

Google "Agency Pricing" or search for it here for endless discussions about it, but basically many of the major publishers used to sell their ebooks to retailers using a model similar to tat used for print books. A retailer got a book for a certain amount off of list price (say 50%, although it varies) and could then sell the book for what ever they wanted. Then came Agency Pricing (started for most pubs on 4/1/2010) where now ebooks are sold on more of a consignment method. The retailer is just an agent for the publisher who is the seller. For their trouble the retailer gets 30% (or there about). Because the retailer is just the agent they are not allowed to discount or offer promos/coupons or do anything that alters the price set by the publisher (which is usually higher than many folks would like).

I did use the coupon, which was not as easy as I thought, given how many books fell into agency pricing. But I finally found something I'd been wanting. Of course, then I didn't really get 50% off....I don't much like the way they calculate discounts, as supposedly I already got the online discount. But I got a $1.50 off for something I wanted, so that's something.

I found Borders site slow and without as many choices and B&N and Amazon. I suspect I won't be buying a lot of e-books from them.

The 50% off is from from the list price, which is usually different from the selling price . It is quite annoying, and first time when I got books from them it took me a while to understand this. But even though, sometimes it's a better deal than other sites.

Thank You for sharing the coupon. I just used this code to purchase my first Borders eBook. (I have only ever purchased from B&N for my Nook and Kobo for my Kobo)

Now I just need a link to directions on how to get the book on my Kobo!

I picked up one ebook, but it was painful. Tried to purchase the ebook a couple times on Sunday but kept getting error messages that they were unable to complete the order due to technical problems. On Monday, I was finally able to complete an order but had to use the second coupon. The first coupon had apparently been used up by one of the incomplete transactions from Sunday.
