Manual scan for attached ereaders?

I have the issue from time to time where ereader devices plugged into our utility PC with Calibre running, sometimes results in that ereader not being discovered.

A simple restart of Calibre will solve the non discovery problem and transfers can go ahead without issue.

What would be great however, would be an tools option for Calibre to allow for manual scan for attached ereader devices. I do wonder if this is at all possible, particularly if others might experience the same problem.

This would avoid having to restart Calibre if the ereader attachment is not discovered.
