Lots of posts on this topic, but I expect there to be a blip in the early years. Once more authors jump on the self-publishing bandwagon, the sheer volume of new titles will dilute the interests of eReaders and we will return to the days of advertising, attractive covers, and hopefully objective reader reviews of new novels. What I look for is a brief description of the contents of the book, not the cover graphic, and follow that up by surfing the 'net looking for opinions and ratings.

I would like if not full books then at least samples of every book released in genres I like to be automatically delivered to my ereader, that way I can peruse them at my leisure.

Perhaps you'd like someone to read them aloud to you while you're all snuggled in bed, as well? Maybe bring you a warm glass of milk?

Actually, "gold rush" is probably a good analogy-- a tiny minority will get filthy rich, a few more will manage to make a decent income, and the large majority who dropped everything thinking it was a way to get rich quick will become bitter drunks, holding one-sided conversations with their pack mules.

It's funny but that duokan software for the Kindle has a feature to automatically flip "pages" for you. It doesn't appear to be useful ATM because how are you supposed to know in advance how long it will take you to read a page? Although I can think of other uses for it.

I don't drink milk.

AKA Business as usual. Along with what I previously mentioned, I would like all revenue from this or any other book distribution site to be distributed equally among all those who have uploaded a book to the site (as long as the book passes review of course). That would be business unusual in case you were wondering.

Publication? So... instead of all the Romance ebooks we can stomach there
would be all the ebooks that the commissars approve of.

I prefer what the free market provides, even if I have to wade through what
the majority of paying customers want, to get to the few that really interest
me.

The free market is an illusion, and I suspect this bookish site will reinforce this illusion.

What if all books were available, as they should be, and you did not have to wade through what you consider garbage to get to what you want? This is what we are talking about.
