Changing Icon Problems

I've got more problems with the softroot 2.4.1 & trying to use some of the custom icons at nookdevs. Here's what I've tried: right clicked on icon link and saved as (did this for both files-reg & focus). Checked all spelling and corrected. Copied files to Nook main sd card to a folder named - my icons. Ejected both drives, and tried both methods described on nookdevs to refresh launcher: used task manager to shut the launcher down and hit the home button to breing it back & tried a full power down and up. Both times the icons are not there to choose when I long press on an icon and press the + to add an icon. I've tried this with three diferent icons.
I thought maybe I needed a newer version of the launcher so I downloaded the file ru.mynook.launcher.apk from nookdevs, copied it to the folder my packages/unknown, opened Trook, picked the file to install and got this message: Application not installed - launcher could not be installed on this phone.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

The "my icons" folder method doesn't work with the ru.mynook launcher application. I emailed them about it, and they said something like, "oh we've never tested that, maybe next time". Install the other nook launcher available on nookdevs, and the icons are changeable. You have to do a bunch of clicking to get the new icons selected, it's not intuitive, but it works with the other launcher. PM me if you have any questions with it.

I can assure you Ru Launcher works with "my icons" folder
I designed all my button sets while using it.

What naming convention did you use then? I could not get them to work at all. What for example, is the name of your "my books" icon?

ETA: Ah, I see they have a new update to the software.... But I'll keep using the other launcher since I've already got it setup.

I've tried installing the newer launcher to no avail. Keep getting the error message.
Sarah, are you using the ru launcher that came with the 2.4.1 softroot? If so could you give me a step by step of what you are doing to change icons. Maybe I'm missing something.
I know to use Sarah's icons you need to download the whole set. Do you need to do that for all the others on nookdevs? I've only been trying a couple at a time.

Yes, you need to update to a newer launcher version with support for custom icons. I don't know, if the softroot package has been updated after the new release. If so, it would be the easiest way to install the complete package again. If not, you can use the ADB shell the uninstall the current version and install the newer version.

Sometimes the apps are protected somehow and Trook or any other tool will get an error during uninstalling. The usual adb shell command "uninstall XXX" will fail too. In this situations the solution is to use "adb shell pm uninstall XXX".

I updated my Ru Launcher using Trook, no problems, I've never used ADB for anything.
Random icons should work, I initially just replaced a couple to try my designs out.

B&N
com.bravo.library.LibraryActivity
com.bravo.library.LibraryActivity_focus

Nookdevs
com.nookdevs.library.NookLibrary
com.nookdevs.library.NookLibrary_focus

But it doesn't matter what the names are, without the latest Ru Launcher it won't work.
