Nook Color available at US Staples stores

Some of you may have seen the press release that Staples will start carrying the NC in May--I called the store down the street yesterday, and they just got them in and were setting up the display.

I was sorely tempted to run right down there, but decided it would be smarter to get rent and a bill or two squared away first, as well as see how much I spend on the road this weekend.

Man, I'm still scheming ways I could have it nownownow

I waited, and researched and schemed! Almost bought a Pocketbook 701, then finally, thanks to this site, I got a Nook Color that was gently used from another member! I love it! And I use a micro SD card with another OS on it, so it is like two tablets in one! Sooooooo worth it!

This blog breaks down the options for running different Android versions on the NC quite well: http://quinxy.com/guides/how-to-pick...stall-options/

And you can see one of our members figuring out the process of booting from SD in this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=130853

I'm finding the stock OS pretty underwhelming. I'm on the road with infrequent WiFi access and no SD card, so my options are limited to what I can sideload over USB, and I haven't had much time with the web browser. I'm somewhat interested in keeping the kids' book and magazine functionality, though browsing magazine titles, it looked like nothing but fluff--no Nature, no Atlantic Monthly. I'll probably keep at least a small stock partition and dual boot PhireMod as my main OS.

My local Staples had a sidewalk sign announcing the NOOK color for sale when I drove by this weekend.
