Titles don't stay the same when sent to device - Nook classic

Hallo.

So I've noticed that not all the title changes I make in Calibre make it to my Nook when I send items to the device. For ease of use, since the Nook can't sort by "series", I change titles to something like

Book 1: First Book
Book 2: Book the Second
Book 3: Tertiary Title

etc.

and they show up fine in Calibre, but when I send them to the Nook they end up as (for example):

Book: First Book
Book 2: Book the Second
Tertiary Title

or whatever. Don't take this example literally, it's not just numbers 1 and 3 not making it over.. it seems to be random. Kind of a hassle when there are many books in a particular series, and I can't memorize which order to read them in. I checked the metadata title fields and they're all consistent, with numbers included. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!
J

I think I figured it out.. it's the colons that are freaking it out. I switched them all to dashes and it seems to be working much better.

Instead of placing the series data in your title you might want to try letting calibre insert the series info into the metadata when it is sent to your device. Read this post for info, particularly the info under the General Metadata section.

Doing it this way keeps your library view clean.
