No "Folder view"? // Duplicate files ignored?

Two questions - if there are existing threads, please post the link, didn't find any.

1) Folder view. Or whatever you want to call it - a basic display of the files and folders in a hierarchical way, just like in Windows explorer.
That doesn't exist on the Kobo?
Why not? Can it be enabled? It's a "feature" I liked on my old EB600, I think it's very valuable, especially for sorting books into folders.

[another edit]Apparently I was wrong - I two books DO show up, although not at the start screen at first. I found them in Book view, and now after the software update even on the main screen.
Still, the folder view would be useful in situations like that.[/edit]
2) duplicate files - I've copied two files onto the device, both the same book, but different make-up. Only one file is shown?
That's where the above mentioned folder view would be useful. I could still chose which file to view - or see if there are indeed two files, perhaps one is broken?

[edit]In case it's important - I'm talking about the Kobo WiFi

Nope, no folder view. I think it has been mentioned in the Firmware Requests thread; you might read through that (sorry, it's getting really long) and second any features you like.

Another possibility would be tagged collections. A book could be tagged with several different attributes, and then selected by attribute. Of course, the UI gets a little tricky, and the Kobo isn't known for a versatile control setup.

It is not as easy for Kobo to do folders as for the base eb600 to do as Kobo has a database to associate with each book and only the book name is used I think. Even if they added collections you would have the same problem with the database name association although I think collections by genre would be a nice addition just to aid in filtering the display.

But, the books ARE on a filesystem with folders. Unless what we see when we plug it in is a virtual filesystem created out of nowhere, which I doubt.
They "merely" have to show what actually exists instead of giving a virtual display (the current view).
(I know this is very simplified. I have no idea how it actually works. But I also don't know why it should be a technical problem.)

You are correct. You can create real folders and put ebooks in them and the unit will work fine separating them into two tabs at the top of the bookshelf screen, One for eBooks and One for Documents. However these are all assembled into a database that is unique to the Kobo firmware and Kobo design of the eBook environment. You never actually look at the real file system unless you look through its connection to a PC when the USB is plugged in.
