Problem Apps for NC

I have had a number of apps that have given me problems; either the Android Marketplace won't make them available or, more recently, the Amazon App Store will show them and then when I try to download them they fail to install. Running Froyo, and programs that do load all seem to work fine.

Marketplace refuses to show a lot of apps for me, for example, Dolphin HD does not show up. Do others experience this?

Shows up in Amazon but then fails to load after install:
Kayak Mobile
Key Ring Reward Cards
Shazam Encore
TV Listings for Android
TripAdvisor
WeatherBug Elite
Urbanspoon
Wolfram|Alpha

Tried cleaning out Titainum Backup Cache as suggested in another thread, didn't make any difference. Suggestions?

Amazon market does not install apps properly for me. It downloads the apk into a temporary folder, but the install itself fails.

As a workaround, I used adb to pull the apk from the nookColor onto my PC, then used adb to install it, which worked fine. I'm not at home right now, so I can't be more specific about the exact commands.

May I respectfully suggest you switch from Froyo to Gingerbread aka CM7. The first time you install CM7 you also want to flash the "gapps" (google apps) installer. This procedure works very well, and EVERY app I've paid for or want to install from the Market is available to download, and installs very well.

As I recall, Froyo has a "hacked" marketplace, and there were hoops to jump through to get the device ID set etc.

As a bonus, the recently released CM7 rom for the Nook also includes some GREAT tablet bonuses - like putting the notification bar at the bottom instead of the top, as well as soft buttons on the notification bar.

Second That Suggestion and..

I would also suggest using the dual-boot method with CM7 and have the best of all worlds. Over on XDA there's a thread called "Generic Nook-2GB-SDCard-CW3010-VGCM7InstallerAsALTinMultiBoot-v6.zip" - the URL is:http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1022786

By following the instructions (very easy) you set up a dual-boot system whereby you leave the Nook at stock 1.1 (latest BN update) and can, by your choice, boot into running CM7 on your SD Card. I am now using the latest (stable) CM7 which is Android 2.3, otherwise known as Gingerbread.

It runs extremely smoothly off the SD Card (I just have a generic Samsung 16Gb that came with a phone a while back) and you never have to mod your Nook, leaving room for BN Updates and just general goodness.

Thank you both for your suggestions, I will look into this.... but am really watching Honeycomb's development closely. Seems to be a more "tablet" oriented version and I'm pretty patient... well, sometimes.

I too was really excited about Honecomb, until Google announced they won't be releasing the source code anytime soon. It seems that HC development has stalled because of this

But, there have been some REALLY good tablet-friendly improvements made to the CM7 gingerbread ROM, in fact many of those improvements were borrowed, either in idea or code from Honeycomb.
