PRS 350 vs PB 360
Hi
![]() I am thinking of buying a prs350 to replace my beloved PB360. However, I tried the prs350 yesterday in Bestbuy and somehow the quick double flash while turning pages gave me a headache. I used to have a PRS505 but it didn't have that weird quick double flash like the prs350. Have anyone experienced the same thing? Can it be fixed? I rather have the slower flash of the PB360 or the PRS505. Thanks Anne |

Form my experience x50 series screens "flash" less (and faster) compared to 505.

I agree but does the quick flash make you dizzy after a long use?

I am sorry, I don't know what "double" flash you are talking about. The page turn is considerably faster than on every other reader I saw so far, but it appears only once. Check out another 350, the one you tried seems to be weird.

I wonder if anyone here owns both devices (PB360 & PRS350). Besides the Pearl screen, would you recommend replacing the pb360 with the prs350? Why?
Thanks Anne |

I've just taken a look at the PB360 and I have to say, go for the PRS-350. The 350 has a faster processor, Pearl, faster page turns, very nice touch interface, not made of plastic, and more internal memory.

When I bought a new reader in December, I was unsure if not to buy the 360. It sounded appealing. What kept me from buying was the sound of the page turning buttons. Now THAT would drive ME crazy!!! A 5" screen and everyother minute a cracking sound because you want to see the next page? Nahh! It simply doesn't do.
I could not be more happy with my 350 and everyone else who has one will tell you the same. The screen is crisp and clear, the page turns are fast as lightning, the swipe is a godsend. Have a look at the other threads and you'll see, we all love ours madly. Moreover, why should one want to pay the same money for the older technology? |

I've never noticed the double flash. Maybe the device at the store was defective??? If you are uncomfortable with it, then another device might work better for you. I've never tried a PB360 so I can't compare.

Go for the 350 for all the reasons that JS Wolf said and from my experience: My PB360 broke after 7 weeks (on/off switch)......My 350 is still working after 7 weeks.... pearl screen, quicker page turning......better PDF reader....etc....

I just bought a PRS350 to replace my PB360. I would say it's definitely better. The only thing you will miss about your Pocketbook is the zoom levels. From what I've seen, the Sony has one readable zoom level and 5 unreadable ones.

It is way better when reading lrf's. If you know how to change your files to lrf. give it a try. I change all of my books to it as the font size jumps are far more reasonable in lrf. Or download one of the books of the mobileread library in lrf to have a look at it.

The "double flash" was likely on pages displaying 16 shade pages, not plain text.

Go for the PRS350. I have been extremely pleased with it, and have not noticed anything that I could call a double flash. Compared to the PRS500 I had before, the pearl screen is nicer and the page change via touchscreen is very convenient.

The LRF's are slightly better, but it still doesn't compare to the PocketBook. That one, I don't have to convert anything, and I can change font size by 1 point size at a time, or 2, or 3, if I wish... it was a LOT more customizable!
ETA: I did get what I want on the Sony by using PRS+ and custom CSS sylesheets. I now have my version of S,M, and L for my two favorite fonts. Last edited by Serena; 04-07-2011 at 03:38 PM. |
