Transferring books whilst travelling
I have the Kindle 3. Is there any way I can make it possible to plug in a USB stick into my Kindle to transfer books on to it?
If not, I have an android phone - could this be used to help transfer the books to the Kindle? Could the books be transferred via WIFI from my phone to my Kindle? |

No, if you don't have wi-fi or 3G available, the only way to transfer books is via USB to a computer. The Kindle can't act as a host to devices.

There is no USB port on the Kindle, making a thumb drive incompatible. With the Kindle having a large enough drive for 1,000+ books, I'm not sure why using a thumb drive would be necessary.

Thanks for the responses.

I am aware of the capacity, but in my situation with travelling, I'm looking for a higher capacity. |

I'm not criticizing, I am genuinely curious as to why you would need more capacity? |

The Kindle can't act as a USB host, so no matter what adapters you use, it will not work.

You could use your smartphone to email books and docs to your kindle, then run a wifi hotspot app on your phone to allow your kindle to connect to the internet and download the files you mailed. I do this often while travelling.

I seem to do this at least once, if not more, when we're on vacation, even with plenty of reading material on my Kindle!

While it can be somewhat time consuming and tedious... It certainly works for that purpose. |

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...3&postcount=15 (no, there is no user-friendly product yet, so it requires a lot of fiddling, and maybe an externally powered USB hub. But the Kindle *can* act as a USB host, at least in principle.) |
