Kindle contrast?

I have heard the kindle has a better contrast, does that mean that it has whiter looking pages?

They both use the same screen (it is actually the same part from the same manufacturer), but the Kindle gives the appearance of better contrast because they use a darker/bolder/heavier font. You can achieve a similar effect by changing the font on the Sony, but you have to do quite a bit of tinkering on both computer and reader in order to do that. It's not like you can just change a preference and the font will change.

Contrast is the wrong term to use. By traditional definition contrast is the difference between the lightest section of the screen and the darkest. So in that respect, they have an identical contrast.

I had the Kindle originally and was unhappy with the RESOLUTION, which means pixels per inch. I went searching for a higher resolution display and all I found was the 350 so I bought it and have been happy ever since.

I change the fonts for my Sony in the extra CSS. Once I set it up, the only thing I need to do in calibre when I have a new book is click convert and it automatically does it. It really is not that much work, just the first time.
