A New Reader

Hello everybody, I and my wife are new e-readers,we are originaly from the UK but have now retired to Cyprus. Having a few spare hours on our hands we decided to try this new thing our friends are telling us about the e-reader,so with a bit of luck we can while our way through a few books.

Ah, then first you will need to learn a few concepts before starting to fully enjoy electronic books. First you will needto establish what features of electronic readers are most important to you:

1) Do you forsee yourself with a huge library of electronic books: then buy a Kindle, it has a search function making searching through books easy;

2) Do you want color screens: try a Nook Color or a Libra Pro Color.

3) Do you want to borrow electronic library books, avoid the Kindle it can't do that but all of the others can.

4) Do you want to pay less for an eelctronic reader; try a kobo, people around here tell me that you can get one for $70.

5) Do you have a smart phone and want to get your reader for $0, there are free software available from Amazon, Borders, Barns and Nobles, Mobi Pocket and Overdrive that will get you reading on your smart phone.

6) Need simplicity of operations - Try a Kobo, it has one button that handles everything

7) Want on board dictionaries, the Sony PRS

8)Need support for all formats available, try an Etaco Jet Book Lite

The two primary formats of electronic books are PDF and epub. What ever reader you buy you need to know which formats it supports.

hello, BigAlan. I don't own an eReader yet, I just have the Kindle and ePub software on my computer that I use to read eBooks. I'm told that if you have an eReader that you become a downloading addict of eBooks. Is that your case too?
