Irritating error message ...... "Suggestions" :@)

Just got a refurbished PRS-600B From a online store. All hunkey dorey apart from this:

Which occurs when I try to drag & drop a book that I recently bought (from Waterstones online store) within the Sony "Reader Library thingumi" PC program ......... I can read the book on my pc, which sort of proves to me the download is good, but its a no go to shift it to my reader.........

Any words to the wise ?

I have downloaded a huge wodge of free titles from the Sony website. those all work fine, its just the one I paid for thats causing me grief

Check out this thread. One of the choices was to reset the reader but this was with a 505. Might be different with the 600.

Post # 2 in this thread talks about resetting the 600. You will lose all your books and will have to start from scratch.

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56371

Once you have restored your reader to the factory defaults you will need to authorize the device with the Reader Library software.

I don't know what the other suggested topics say, but no need to reset. Just deauthorise and then reauthorize.
From the Kobo wiki here at MR:

How can I deauthorize a Kobo (or other) device using ADE?

PC instructions:

Open ADE on your pc, connect the Kobo to the pc. Then press Ctrl,Shift, E. You should get a box asking of you want to deauthorize, select yes.

Unplug your Kobo from the computer, and plug it in again. Now you should get a box saying that a new device has been detected and you can authorize it.

MAC OS X instructions

Open ADE on your MAC, connect the Kobo to the it. Then press CMD-SHIFT-E. You should get a box asking of you want to deauthorize, select yes.

Unplug your Kobo from the computer, and plug it in again. Now you should get a box saying that a new device has been detected and you can authorize it.

Most likely you will have to do a hard reset as the deauthorization should have been done by the former owner. As you have no access to their password and account there is no way for you to do the deauthorization "normally", which means a hard reset will have to be done. No harm here, just the need to play all your files onto the reader once again.

No, you do not need any user info to deauthorize. No need for hard reset for that reason.

As above you need to deauthorise the reader by ADE and then authorise it because you will not be able to read the book without first downloading it via ADE.
When you download ADE I think it puts a file in your documents folder called My digital editions. Then when you purchase and download the book it will send an ACSM file to that folder. You can then open ADE and drag the file over to ADE and it will download the actual book, which after connecting your reader you will be able to drop it onto.
Hope that helps
Mike

You ran into the authorisation issue from a formerly-owned unit, but getting DRM books via ADE isn't that complicated once you've done it a couple of times.

Why don't you give the Sony Reader Library a try? Just download it here. It is easy to use and you can start by downloading the freebies Sony offers. It works like iTunes.

It will also initiate the latest firmware download for you.
