Where are my new library folders?
I have used Calible quite a bit, so this is a puzzle to me. I create a new folder (I've successfully created several) and it will not show up on my drop down "Books" "Quick Switch" tab. I've gone to "Books", create an empty library and it will create the library, but if I change libraries and go back to the one I just created, it isn't there. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. I'm on Windows Vista with Calibe 7.52.

You're not, perhaps, creating the libraries all in the same folder?

Thank you for your reply. Yes, they are all in the same folder.

There is no metadata.db in my parent folder. There is in all the other folders under it.

You should be able to use the Create/Switch (on the Library arrow to switch/Create to any Library folder (it takes a few seconds , to switch).. |

I should be able to switch, but it's like something turned off, preventing me from switching. I'm baffled. In the past I successfully created and can switch between several folders, but folders I create now go away when I switch to a different folder. It makes it impossible to copy books to the new folders I've created.

I don't understand what behaviour you're actually experiencing. Are your library folders disappering after you switch to another library? Are the books' folders inside the library folders disappearing after you switch? What exactly do you mean by "copy books to the new folders"- are you talking about adding books to the library via Calibre?

I have made libraries named Author_A, Author_B, etc. I have tried to make a library, say for example, Sci-Fi. When I try to change from Author_A back over to Sci-Fi, it's not listed in the Quick Switch which makes it impossible to copy a book from said Author_A to the Sci-Fi library. I'm doing all this in Calibre.

Oh, so the quick switch list is the problem, not actual folders disappearing? How many libraries do you use?

That's probably just too many entries for the quick switch list. I haven't found a place to change how many libraries are displayed there, though.
I have to ask the obvious question: Why not just use one big library? |

![]() Sounds like the OP is using Libraries instead of tags ![]() (Don't feel bad, It take some time to wrap you head around the Tags are really better for this concept. ![]() |
